WIKO MOBILE LAUNCHES OPERATIONS IN NIGERIA

Wiko Mobile, a French firm providing mobile phone services has launched operations in Nigeria through introducing 10 new mobile phones, in an official launch held in the country’s popular city, Lagos.

The launch comes weeks after the French company launched its range of devices in retail shops across Kenya, available in various towns including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kericho among others.

Kenya and now Nigeria are the first African countries to enjoy the Wiko range of phones. In the recent launch in Nigeria, Wiko unveiled 10 different models from its range of smartphones as well as feature phones, surprising many.

Seven of the models are from the company’s smartphone family for technology survey users as well as regular users while the other three include stylish feature phones designed for first time phone users.

“We are targeting at least 10 per cent of the market share here. We have successfully launched in other parts of the continent having recorded outstanding success in Europe,” said Marcel Van De Per, the director International Business at Wiko.

The Wiko director cited that with the 20 per cent of the estimated 2 million monthly mobile device market being smartphones, the company plans to take a strong claim in the market share. A plan influenced by its experience in France where in three years, it was named number 2 in the country.

Among the smartphones launched in the country include Wiko’s flagship model Wiko Highway, which features a 2.0 GHs Octa-Core technology. It also features a 5” FHD screen, 16MP back camera alongside a front camera of 8MP.

Wiko says Higway is designed for those who desire the latest technology, with the option of the Rainbow model, another lifestyle statement for those keen in fashion delivery,

Entry-level smartphone users can choose from the Wiko Goa, Bloom, Sunset, Fizz or Lenny which are designed to offer customers a friendly experience.
