Kenyan West Pokot County Gets Solar-Powered LG Fridges

LG DONATES SOLAR POWERED FRIDGES TO WEST POKOT JUUCHINI

LG Electronics through World Vision Kenya, has donated five solar-powered refrigerators worth KES 2.2 Million to West Pokot County to cater for the health facilities in the region experiencing challenges in maintaining drugs.

The fridges have been provided to help the health facilities store vaccines and other medical equipment in efforts to improve immunization coverage among children under five years as well as pregnant women.

As one of the regions in the country that are faced with the problem of infrastructure when it comes to power supply and is among the remote areas with high maternal deaths, the fridges will help reduce disease cases in children.

Technology Company LG, developed the refrigerators as a response to the absence of power supply in remote areas and the extensive power cuts that plague most parts of the country, rendering home appliances ineffective for a long time.

“We manufacture products that fit the needs of our consumers and this donation is another cutting edge technological innovation based on customers’ insights and the need to provide human-centric technological solutions,” said Tae-Ick Son, MD LG East and Central Africa.

The fridge by LG has been incorporated with the company’s Inverter Compressor that functions to help control cooling power automatically in response to the amount of medical supplies loaded in the refrigerator.

As power supply in various remote areas across Kenya continue to be a problem due to lack of infrastructure in the regions, power distributor Kenya Power is automating operations with an electronic system planned to be deployed by IBM.
