Samsung S6 And S6 Edge Spot A Design The S5 Never Had

SAMSUNG S6 AND S6 EDGE

Samsung finally launched its two flagships officially for the first time at the Mobile World Congress 2015 held in Barcelona, confirming the speculations and rumours that loomed over the internet with their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

With release set for April 10, the two devices are too similar yet too different, especially on the first glance. One thing that is notable of the S6 pair is the design with the S6 edge spotting a curved design, or better defined a folding design on its sides that lets users receive alerts through icons featured on the sides.

The curve is like the one spotted on the Note 4 Edge, a second edition of the Note 4 that hit the market last year and generated several discussions as it was a first for Samsung. Now the electronics company has done a repeat with its latest entry, only this time the devices are more pocket-fitting at a slimmer design.

Talking of slim designs, the Galaxy S6 dual comes with a slimmer design than the iPhone and are incorporated with Samsung’s Exynos 7420 processors whose multi-core performance is said to be faster than that of Apple’s A8 that is present in the iPhone 6, and also than the Snapdragon 810 currently powering the latest smartphones, including the new HTC One M9.

Why purchase the Samsung S6?

Before even going any further into this, let me mention the cool design one more time. Not only is the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge slim but it also has a much better design than its predecessors, featuring a metal design instead of the former plastic and spots Gorilla glass 4 ideal to protect its display.

No one talks about the S5 much, actually most people I have interacted with prefer the S4, which is not entirely surprising since the S5 was the biggest flop for Samsung in 2014 because of its general design, and by general here I mean not appealing at all. There was not much to look forward to with the predecessor.

Now, however, customers have a reason to sample the Galaxy S6 pair that will be available in a range of colours, including white, gold, black and blue. The S6 edge will have a green option instead of the blue, also showing the difference that is between the lovely two.

With 40 per cent less features that Samsung says was necessary to cut on in order to offer better user experience by eliminating the number of features that are sometimes hard to find, S6 and S6 edge will come pre-installed with Uber, PayPal and McAffee mobile security among others. With Android being the most targeted platform for malware, the security offing could come in handy.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Specs

I will not be convincing anyone why they need either of the S6 pair if I do not mention the cool interior that makes a smartphone SMART, so here are a few features to note.

Display – Super AMOLED HD touchscreen at 5.1 inches, with a 1440×2560 pixel resolution and of course the Gorilla Glass 4 like the one present in the Note Edge.

Platform – 1.5 and 2.1 GHz Quad-core processors on the Samsung Exynos 7420 chipset. The two will come running the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop from Google.

Camera – 16 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization and an LED flash. They also feature a secondary camera at 5MP to allow for cool selfies and video calls.

Memory – The Galaxy S6 pair offer internal memory of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB with 3GB RAM. No support for memory card.

Battery – Li-Ion 2250 mAh

That said you will want to know that the battery on the S6 pair is built-in, meaning that now you will not have a removable battery on the two flagships and as Samsung puts it, it is the fastest smartphone in charging time. The two also come with built-in wireless charging that support both PMA and WPA, hoped to cater for all.

At a time when everyone is going for wireless options for their devices to eliminate the need to carry around wires, the technology is pretty amazing and efficient for the user. I would think so.

Remember the acquisition of mobile payments company LoopPay by Samsung last month, well now the S6 devices will come incorporated with now known as Samsung Pay that will allow for purchases where MasterCard and Visa are accepted and therefore becoming a direct competition with Apple Pay.

Samsung is definitely working hard to catch up with Apple, especially with the success of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that recorded great performance in sales for the year 2014, with the Korean company recording a downside in sale profits for the S5; explaining the iPhone 6 mentions during the Galaxy S6 launch.

The S6 pair will also come with virtual reality headsets Gear VR that were introduced for the Note Edge, but are now smaller to be compatible with the two flagships.

How much the devices are expected to price has not be disclosed yet, but keep it here for more details on the two,
