The Affordable Microsoft Lumia 535 Now Available In Kenya

LUMIA 535 LAUNCHES AS FIRST MICROSOFT-BRANDED DEVICE JUUCHINI

Introduced as the first Lumia device to carry the new owners brand name ,Microsoft, the low cost smartphone has now been made available to Kenyans and will be available for purchase at the cost of KSh 13,800.

Earlier in November, Microsoft officially launched the Lumia 535 in two variants under the 5x5x5 campaign, a single SIM 3G and a Smart Dual SIM featuring a 5-inch screen display and running on Windows 8.1.

Kenya, however, will only be able to enjoy the Dual SIM variant for now , featuring integrated Microsoft experiences that the company is banking on to increase user experience, in the hope that the device will appeal to the younger generation wanting the smartphone experience but cannot afford it.

Microsoft Lumia 535 comes with a wide angle 5MP front facing and back camera, 5-inch HD screen display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core  Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

RAM capacity for the Lumia 535 is more than that of its predecessors as it stands at 1GB, with the internal memory of 8GB and allows for an expandable memory through a micro SD card of up to 128GB as well as the additional free 15GB cloud storage on OneDrive.

The low cost devices promises users to deliver on various functions and benefits that come with owning a smartphone, including,

  • Built in Skype to offer users a seamless switch between voice and video calls
  • Pre-installed OneNote and Office Suite to aid in sharing of Word, Excel and Power point documents
  • Built in Microsoft Outlook to help keep tabs with emails on the go
  • An option to operate on two networks at the same time

Microsoft launched the device in partnership with Orange, where Kenyans were able to purchase the device at a special discounted price of Ksh 8,450 at select Orange outlets including Galleria, Sarit Centre and T-Mall in Nairobi.

The anti-Nokia Lumia smartphone comes into the African mobile market to join in the list of affordable smartphones trying to cater for the low income earners who can’t afford the costly devices, including the Lumia 530, which is also available in the country at the same price range at KSh 12,000.
