You may have heard of the new and exciting development from Airtel that allows customers of the network to enjoy making calls and sending text messages to any network as well as browse the internet at fast speeds by making a subscription that starts from KSh 50.

The new introduction is through a bundle service dubbed UnlimiNET that is tailored for the Kenyan market only and allows customers to access talk time in terms of minutes, limited SMS bundle as well as a data bundle that lets user’s enjoy browsing even after the bundle is used up.

Directed at the Prepaid customers and geared to help promote relationships by offering unlimited connections to either professional, family or social networks, UnlimiNET comes in variants of a daily, weekly or monthly bundle – which bundle to subscribe will depend solely on the customer.

Supported platforms that will be available at full speeds through the service will include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp as well as Gmail, with other web services being made available at a lesser speed of 256kbps.

By now if you have read previous JUUCHINI posts, you know that Airtel already provides free access to Twitter and Facebook. Free Facebook is available through the internet.org app or by visiting the internet.org web page for those using feature phones.

Now through this service, users can continue to enjoy other popular platforms that have become crucial to everyday functioning whether in office interaction, keeping family ties or maintaining friendships and organizing meetings.

So Just What Do You Get With UnlimiNET?

To access the Airtel UnlimiNet bundle service, a customer is required to dial *544# and select the UnlimiNET option from the Menu to subscribe. Users will then be able to select the bundle they are comfortable with, to vary on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

For the daily subscription, there are two variants available; first the KSh 50 option that allows Airtel prepaid customers to access 100MBs in data bundles, 20 minutes talk time to any network and 100SMS also to any network in the country.

The other variant is the KSh100 variant that offers 300MB in data bundle, 60 minutes of talk time to other networks and 500SMS. The subscriptions can be renewed every day automatically or selected manually when needed.

The weekly subscription offers the KSh250 and KSh 500 options. With 250, the customer gets 500MBs in data, 100 minutes in talk time and 500 SMS, all to other networks. By subscribing to the KSh 500 option, customers will get 1.5GB in data, 300 minutes in talk time ant 2,500 SMS to all networks.

Those wanting the monthly subscription will be required to invest either KSh 1000, where they get 2GB data bundle, 400 minutes talk time and 2,000 SMS or KSh 2000, through which the customer will get 6GB in data, 1,200 minutes talk time and 10,000 SMS.

PostPaid customers will not be able to enjoy the services as yet, but prepaid customers will be glad to know that the offer has been made available permanently and only to the Kenyan market. As Airtel Kenya’s CEO puts it, Airtel loves being in Kenya and Kenyans need the peace of mind that UnlimiNET is based upon.
