The award of the Best Mobile Software Solution in Africa 2014 has been presented to a Nigerian e-Health Startup for its role in addressing the issue of Malaria in the country and Africa as a whole.

Established one year ago, the e-Health company dubbed Mobile Software Solutions won the award after it was selected from over 400 other solutions in the continent at the World Summit Award (WSA) 2014.

WSA is a global follow-up initiative of the United Nations World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) that partners with key UN organisations and agencies in the UN Geneva Agenda to select the world’s best e-Content and innovative ICT applications.

The company, Mobile Software Solutions (MSS) Limited was selected as a winner for their Malaria Destroyer Game (MDG) application, which the WSA Africa 2014 judges said was an innovative origination with human-health impact and international appeal as it had generated endorsements.

Chris Uwaje, Chairman of MSS Limited received the award for the m-Entertainment/Lifestyle category at a conference on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), held in Morocco.

The mobile game application MDG has received recognition before in West Africa, with selection as the best Mobile App Game of the year in the region earlier this year.

“With this solution, we can stop these massive Malaria deaths and sustain economic growth by ensuring the good health of our workforce,” said Uwaje.

MDG is a series of education mobile games and solutions focused on the eradication of Malaria in Africa, in efforts to ensure African countries meet the required standards in health by UN in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS).
