Bloggers Association of Kenya Awards 2014 Intercontinental Hotel JUUCHINI

The BAKE Awards happened this past weekend at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi. The winners in all 17 categories were picked through a process that involved blog submissions by all bloggers, and readers and these nominees were then further trimmed down into 5 blogs per category bringing the entire list of nominated blogs to 85.

‘Internet people’ then voted for these and winners were announced on Saturday evening and the winners are:

  1. Best Technology Blog Award went to Techmoran (
  2. Best Photography Blog – Ben Kiruthi who does a lot of wedding photography. Check out his blog here
  3. Best Creative Writing Blog was won by Jackson Biko. He’s an intelligent writer who’s blog has a lot of satire and humour. Check him out here.
  4. Best Business Blog was won by Limo Taboi with his blog bankelele.
  5. Best Food Blog was won by
  6. Best Environmental (and Agricultural) Blog was won by
  7. Best Fashion, Beauty, Hair and Style Blog was won by Sharon Mundia. She runs a blog called
  8. Best Politics Blog Award was won by Brenda Wambui and Michael Onsando with their blog
  9. Best New Blog Award was won by
  10. Best Corporate Blog Award was won by the iHub. They were represented by Daudi Were (@mentalacrobatics), and others from the iHub.
  11. Best Topical Blog Award was won by
  12. Best Sports Blog Award was a tie between and Futaa that latter of which is incubated at 88MPH run by Nikolai Barnwell.
  13. Best Entertainment and Lifestyle Blog award was won by run by one Samuel Majani. No one from Ghafla! was present to pick up the award though.
  14. Best Travel Blog Award was picked up by Safari254. The blog is mainly consistent of well taken pictures done by Rachael Muthoni. You can read this interesting piece she wrote on Why she loves Watamu.
  15. Best Health Blog Award was picked up by
  16. Best County Blog Award was picked up by This blog is run by 2 guys who come from Baringo County and they source content from all over the counties.
  17. and finally, Best Kenyan Blog of the Year Award went to Jackson Biko again. You can read his blog here.
