In what is being called the greatest advancements in iPhone history, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be made available for purchase to customers by Airtel at all its outlets across the country.
Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said, “Airtel is responding to its customers’ demands for the iPhone devices and we are very excited to make these latest innovations from Apple available in Kenya.”
Customers of Airtel will be able to take full advantage of all the features of the latest mobile devices by Apple on the Airtel 3G network.
With data reportedly showing that iPhone smartphones generate more data than the feature phones, Airtel felt the need to venture in the iPhone business by providing their latest smartphones that have become popular across the globe.
Through Airtel’s 3G network, iPhone 6 users are expected to experience faster download and upload speeds for browsing the web, streaming music and making video calls among others.
The iPhone 6 16 GB model is expected to retail at a starting price of KSh 100,000 at the Airtel stores across the stores.
Announced in September, the iPhone 6 has been reported as one of the biggest introduction in years by the company and features the two models, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
The iPhone 6 features an internal memory of up to 128 GB, with a 16GB and 64GB model, 8MP camera incorporated with a dual-LED flash and runs on iOS 8 that is upgradable to iOS 8.1.
iPhone 6 is powered with a 1.4 GHz Dual-core processor, and comes in three colours including Space Gray, Silver and Gold.
The iPhone 6 Plus features a fingerprint sensor Touch ID like the one on iPhone family of phones, with a LED-backlit IPS LCD 5.5 inch display. It is slightly thicker than the iPhone 6.
